KOMA / Release history

Changelog

New features, refinements, and fixes in every Koma release.

0.10.0

Latest release

English and Simplified Chinese

  • The app interface and release notes now follow your system language, with support for English and Simplified Chinese. Project content and captions remain unchanged.
  • The installer now includes bilingual drag-and-drop instructions and an installation guide.

Interface and Experience

  • Restored native menus and moved Report a Bug to the Help menu.
  • Enlarged the Koma sidebar icon and added a black-and-gold PRO badge or a gray FREE badge based on the activated license.

Performance and Stability

  • Kept one classic color per device model to reduce installer size. Existing projects map older colors to the retained option.
  • Fixed main-thread isolation in Metal preview pause controls.

0.9.0

Recording Sources

  • Record iPhone and iPad screens over USB, retaining device orientation, device audio, and the camera overlay.
  • The camera overlay stays live across apps and full-screen spaces before recording. The installer also includes commands to reset screen recording and input monitoring permissions after an update.

Editor and Timeline

  • The timeline shows tracks according to project content and expands editing space when captions, Auto Zoom, or static annotations are focused.
  • Add captions manually, drag Auto Zoom segments, edit full-screen camera segments and static annotations, and adjust motion blur for Auto Zoom.
  • The camera overlay scales along with Auto Zoom for more natural changes of focus.

Performance and Stability

  • When the editor is paused, it redraws only when the image or settings change, greatly reducing CPU and GPU power use during idle editing.
  • Recording setup uses a lightweight screen preview and isolates frequent state updates. Fixed a preview that could remain stuck loading after switching between foreground and background.

0.8.10

Installation

  • The installer now includes a branded background and clear drag-and-drop instructions. Open it and drag Koma into Applications.

0.8.9

AI Editing and Captions

  • When editing and generating captions together, structural edits are completed first. Captions are then generated from the final retained clips so they do not cross deleted content.
  • Chinese AI captions consistently use Simplified Chinese characters and handle pauses within sentences and brief voiced segments more reliably.

Compatibility

  • Fixed access to the current desktop wallpaper on macOS 27.

0.8.8

AI Captions

  • Before generating captions, AI checks Koma’s persistent model directory and existing engine caches and verifies model usability to avoid duplicate downloads.

0.8.7

AI Editing

  • When AI removes pauses or breaths, affected zooms are automatically shortened, split, or removed, with each adjustment listed in the preview.

0.8.6

Trial Information

  • The Pro trial deadline now includes the exact minute and explicitly states Beijing time (UTC+8), avoiding the impression that access lasts throughout September 16.

0.8.5

Recording Setup

  • The camera overlay can now be dragged reliably from both its center and edges.
  • The first input monitoring permission request no longer adds an extra dialog. If permission is still missing, clicking again opens the relevant system settings directly.

0.8.4

Camera Overlay

  • Drag the floating camera overlay directly from the camera image instead of having to grab the surrounding empty space.
  • The camera overlay is temporarily hidden when update, permission, or other system dialogs open, so it no longer covers their buttons.

0.8.3

Limited-Time Pro Trial

  • The recording workspace now shows both the Pro trial end date and the time remaining for early-bird pricing, keeping the two deadlines distinct.
  • The limited-time Pro trial ends at September 16, 2026, 00:00 Beijing time (UTC+8). The permanently free edition remains available afterward.

Early-Bird Pricing

  • Early-bird pricing will still be permanently withdrawn at October 1, 2026, 00:00 Beijing time (UTC+8). The sales countdown continues after the Pro trial ends.
  • The license window uses consistent Pro trial wording and shows the exact time in Beijing time (UTC+8).

0.8.2

Limited-Time Access

  • All Pro features are available without an email address or license until September 16, 2026, 00:00 Beijing time (UTC+8). The permanently free edition remains available afterward.
  • Early-bird pricing now has a separate sales deadline. The CNY 99, 159, and 299 plans will be permanently withdrawn at October 1, 2026, 00:00 Beijing time (UTC+8).

License Status

  • The license window now clearly shows when limited-time Pro access ends.
  • If the early-bird catalog is temporarily unavailable, the purchase countdown is hidden rather than incorrectly using the Pro access deadline.

0.8.1

Workspace

  • The app now opens to New Recording by default, with screen recording, input monitoring, microphone, and camera permission status in the top toolbar.
  • Projects appear in a grid of 16:9 thumbnails with at least four columns. Creation time and duration are overlaid at the bottom of each thumbnail.

Windows and Details

  • The main and editor windows use system translucency, and editor actions have moved into the native toolbar for a more consistent window layout.
  • Recording modes, toggles, and project context menus now use native controls. Update publication times follow the system region and time zone.

0.8.0

Recording Workspace

  • The main window uses a native sidebar for recent projects and new recordings, with clearer recording sources, permission status, and settings.
  • If macOS does not show an input monitoring permission prompt, Koma explains why and provides a direct link to Input Monitoring settings.

Stability

  • Fixed a UI state-update warning when quickly switching between recent projects and new recording.
  • Fixed a UI state feedback loop when the floating camera preview followed window movement.

0.7.0

Editor and Timeline

  • The editor now opens in its own window. Video thumbnails and audio waveforms share a track, with consistent heights, rulers, and drag feedback for caption and Auto Zoom tracks.
  • Adjust Auto Zoom boundaries directly on the timeline, drag to zoom the visible range, view clip speed, and use Space, B, Delete, ⌘Z, and arrow keys for common operations.
  • Canvas corners, camera aspect ratio and styling, settings hierarchy, and project management have been reorganized to make controls easier to find.

Captions and AI Editing

  • Caption recognition uses full-transcript context to correct technical terms and can align timing to audio boundaries, reducing manual adjustments.
  • Combine AI editing requirements, describe each one, and save local templates. External tools can read help as needed, preview changes, and verify project state before committing.
  • Silence suggestions detect audio activity and report how conflicts with cuts, speed changes, captions, and Auto Zoom are handled.

Recording and Details

  • The floating recording controls have a clearer native appearance. Fixed a case where the app could quit after the countdown finished.
  • The default click effect is now a solid pulse in the app’s accent color. Timeline handles also show the appropriate resize or drag cursor.

0.6.0

Early-Bird Offer

  • A server-time-synchronized early-bird countdown appears at the top of the recording workspace. Click it to see pricing and purchase options.
  • The public beta and early-bird offer were set to end together at September 16, 2026, 00:00 Beijing time (UTC+8). Permanently free features remain available after the beta ends.

Menus and Feedback

  • Unused system menus have been removed, leaving the Apple and Koma menus.
  • The new Report a Bug… menu opens your mail app and automatically attaches diagnostic logs without project names, file paths, license keys, or device identifiers.

0.5.0

Public Beta

  • Added installation-bound signed beta credentials, an explicit end date, and an offline grace period. The app falls back to its permanently free features when the beta ends.
  • A new license window supports manually issued perpetual licenses and deactivation of the current device.

Free and Pro Features

  • The app icon now uses a dark, three-layer window mark to reflect screen recording and layered editing.
  • Free includes full recording and manual editing, with unlimited 1080p, 30 fps, Small File, H.264 exports carrying a Koma watermark.
  • The Free watermark is now a more visible translucent logo and Koma wordmark, kept inside the recorded area even when canvas padding changes.
  • A valid beta credential or perpetual license unlocks watermark-free export, 4K, 60 fps, HEVC, and the Agent CLI.

0.4.1

Updates

  • Update checks and installer downloads now use Koma’s dedicated domain for a more reliable update entry point.

0.4.0

Updates

  • When an update is available, the default browser opens the official download URL, avoiding sandbox restrictions on installers downloaded inside the app.
  • Before installation, a notice explains that screen recording, input monitoring, microphone, and camera permissions may need to be granted again.

0.3.0

Export Settings

  • Before export, file size is estimated from the edited duration and current encoding settings, making quality choices easier to compare.
  • Duplicate headings and explanations have been removed. The preview is centered, and aspect ratio and source dimensions appear near their related settings.
  • Frame rate, quality, and HEVC are now under Advanced settings, collapsed by default.

0.2.0

Updates

  • The first launch after an upgrade shows the current version’s release notes, so you no longer need to visit the download page to find important changes.
  • Check periodically at launch or manually from the app menu. After confirmation, the update can be downloaded, verified, and opened as a DMG.

Recording and Editing

  • Adjust the white border width of the camera overlay before recording or while editing.

Export

  • Export progress now shows elapsed and estimated remaining time, making long exports easier to follow.
  • The export overlay uses the Koma app icon and clearly identifies preparation, rendering, and finalization.

0.1.0

New

  • Record the screen, system audio, microphone, and camera as separate tracks.
  • Virtual cursors, Auto Zoom, camera overlays, and non-destructive timeline editing are now available.

Editing and Export

  • Set the project aspect ratio, canvas background, captions, and volume, and export MP4 with configurable H.264 or HEVC encoding.
  • Preview and export share scene evaluation and the Metal rendering pipeline.

Distribution

  • An ad-hoc signed Apple Silicon DMG, SHA-256 checksum, and public download URL are available.
